Naturopathic medicine is a primary healthcare profession. Naturopathic doctors (NDs) look at the whole person, including mental, emotional, and physical concerns. The goal is to identify and treat the underlying cause of disease. Every patient is different, so their treatment plan will be unique and individualized to them. The focus is on prevention and the use of natural & less invasive therapies to stimulate the body’s innate ability to heal. Naturopathic doctors spend more time with patients to educate and empower them to make lifestyle changes.

Hi. My name is Dr. Stef Buehner, ND, and I am a licensed naturopathic doctor. I am very excited to be moving back home to Norfolk County! What I am most passionate about is addressing all aspects of wellness (mental, emotional, and physical), and empowering patients to make positive changes in their lives. I have a special interest in women’s health, hormonal imbalances, stress management, mood support, and digestive concerns.

I completed my Bachelor of Science at the University of Guelph in 2013, with a major in biology and a minor in nutritional sciences. My interests in human health, nutrition, teaching, volunteer work, natural alternatives, and finding the underlying cause of illness led me to become a naturopathic doctor. I pursued naturopathic medicine at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in Vancouver in 2014, which allowed me to explore a different part of Canada while studying to become an ND. While at Boucher, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to spend a week in Nicaragua to volunteer in a naturopathic clinic for locals. Ever since spending two summers volunteering in Peru and Ecuador during university, travel and volunteer work have had a special place in my heart. It gave me a different perspective as to how people live and the challenges they face.

After graduating in 2017, I knew I wanted to live and set up a practice in a rural community. Having grown up on a farm outside of Waterford, I have always valued the sense of community and the slower pace of small towns. While practicing in Goderich, ON, my partner, Jeff, and I took a trip to Nova Scotia and knew we wanted to pursue a future there. We loved the way of life in NS & exploring the beautiful province, but the pandemic made us realize that living near family is our priority. I am excited to be putting down roots in Norfolk County, and I look forward to being a part of your health journey.

I am a professional member in good standing with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO), the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND), and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).
